Introducing, the first ever EFSEW Youth Council and you have been chosen to apply for this opportunity!
What is the Youth Council? It is an opportunity to for our area's youth living with epilepsy (that includes siblings as well) to lead our agency and our community's youth to a new awareness of epilepsy. Additionally, the youth council is an awesome opportunity to show the community your leadership abilities!
The Youth Council of The Epilepsy Foundation of Southeast Wisconsin will work closely with the program staff and fundraising staff from the agency to create programs and services that are specifically for the youth of our community, as well as raise funds for these programs! Basically, the youth council is an agency within the agency who will raise awareness, build a community and have a lot of fun along the way.
We have decided that our youth council will be assembled in a two-tier system! The youth council itself will be comprised of youth between the ages of 18 and 24. There will be 10 members of this council and they will serve a 2 year term. We will also have another tier of individuals between the ages of 14-18 who will be our Leaders in Training (L.I.T.s). LITs will be in training and remain on this tier until they are at the required age to become a member of the Youth Council where they will automatically take a council seat when a vacancy in the council occurs. We plan to meet at least every other month which may be in person or via the web. LITs will meet on a quarterly basis.
Interested? Please fill out the attached application and send it back to the EFSEW office. The applications must be submitted by January 25, 2008. Applicants will be notified if they have been selected for the council on or about February 1, 2008, with our first meeting to follow on February 17th at the Epilepsy Foundation office.
We look forward to hearing from you and receiving your application! In the meantime, if you should have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us and we will be happy to answer any questions you may have!
Sincerely,
