The Epilepsy Foundation of Southeast Wisconsin’s Toast of the Town that honored Curt S. Culver was a resounding success on November 14th, with over 500 people in attendance at the Hyatt Regency Hotel's grand ballroom.
Culver is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of MGIC Investment Corporation. As the 2006 Toast of the Town Award recipient, he joins a roster of other civic leaders previously honored for outstanding contributions to the quality of life in the greater Milwaukee area. Among the many organizations to which he gives his time as a Director are: Big Brothers Big Sisters, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee, Children's Hospital and Health System, Froedtert Health System, Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee Art Museum and the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce.
The Toast of the Town event on November 14th was the Epilepsy Foundation’s major fundraiser of the year. Proceeds support more than twenty programs offered by the agency to the more than 30,000 people in Southeastern Wisconsin afflicted with the seizure disorder, 10,000 of whom are children. Programs range from an Art Therapy course for children at the Milwaukee Art Museum to School Education Programs that instruct school personnel and students on seizure recognition and first aid.
The event commenced at 5:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception and silent auction, followed by dinner in the Ballroom at 7 p.m. and program at 8 p.m. Other program participants were Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, Edward Zore, President and CEO of Northwestern Mutual, Gary Grunau, Senior Vice President of Gilbane Building Company, Raejean Kanter, Executive Director of the Impact Fund at the Forest County Potawatomi Community Foundation and Tim Sheehy, President of the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce.
The funds raised were amplified by both a silent and live auction, swelling the proceeds by close to $30,000. Highlighting the event was a gentle roast of the honoree who graciously accepted the spoken barbs and bouquets in his remarks before the appreciative audience.
Tim Sheehy, president of the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce, delighted the audience as Toast of the Town Master of Ceremonies.

Honoree Curt Culver and his wife Sue enjoyed the roast by Mayor of Milwaukee, Tom Barrett.
2006 Toast of the Town Honoree Curt Culver reflected the good humor and warmth of the Epilepsy Foundation's annual gala event.
